Description

Italic handwriting is of basic knowledge to every calligrapher. There is never a day for me without writing some lines of italic, because it is such a simple, elegant and versatile letterform. I use it a lot in my notebook, and because the paper won’t take ink and such, I have to draw it with pencil. And that led me to do more with the simple skeleton letterforms. It’s very tempting to explore different rhythms and structures, like a kind of gestural writing. Though it’s different in the way that you keep more control over where to put weight on certain lines.
