Karen Nordstrom Roberts

Karen Nordstrom Roberts is a calligraphic artist with 30 years of experience learning and sharing the art of hand lettering. She began her studies with historic lettering forms such as foundational, italic, blackletter, and uncial but years later also fell in love with the pointed pen. 

She's taught 100s of beginners in her 15 years as an instructor both online and in the greater Pittsburgh region. Her "intro" classes start from the very beginning as though the student has never picked up a calligraphy pen before - but she shares enough detailed information to challenge those who are advanced beginners or intermediate students. Her goal is for students to learn the fundamentals and then explore the artistic expression of the genre.

In her role as the president of Calligraphy Guild Pittsburgh, she hosts workshops presented by in-person and online calligraphy instructors who are local and from around the world. Her professional calligraphy services have been commissioned for weddings and events, certificates, texts suitable for framing, and special requests.
