You don’t need fancy paper or drawing skills to create a bespoke, handstitched notebook with a beautifully illustrated cover. In this introductory bookbinding class with book artist Bel Mills, you’ll transform a pair of envelopes into a sturdy cover for a notebook, and master a simple but beautiful stitch to adorn the spine. You’ll also discover an easy monoprinting technique used by pop artist Andy Warhol that will enable you to create an incredible, inky images to adorn the cover. By the end of class, you’ll have a stunning finished notebook, though I’m guessing you won’t be able to stop at just one! Having mastered this fun and easy process, you’ll be able to turn out collections of notebooks with ease, exploring your favorite visual themes: flowers, faces, birds, butterflies, or whatever you love most. Fill your notebooks with ideas and sketches, or use them as thoughtful handmade gifts for every occasion: birthdays, Mother’s Day, bridesmaids, Valentines, Holiday stocking stuffers, etc. Both beginner and intermediate bookmakers welcome.
