Description

A Glorious Obsession with Helen Allen

The Medlar, Mespilus germanica, has become more popular over the past decade as a garden/orchard tree and for its exotic fruits that are mentioned in Shakespeare’s plays and eaten in Tudor times in the court of Henry VIII.  Fall Medlars have wonderful coloring, texture and detail and are rather different from other pomes. We will make observational drawings and color notes which may be finished in graphite or watercolor. A good and accurate drawing will be ready for you to take away, and with your color notes and other aids, material to complete a small but lively painting.
