Aisha Changezi - Intro to Square Kufic Calligraphy - May 6 & 7, 2023

This class is an introduction to Square Kufic Calligraphy. Originally created for architecture purposes, this ancient script beautifully simplifies the letter forms into modern angular shapes. Introduction to its history, individual and connected letter variations, layout and some basic composition rules will be discussed. Students will be guided through into constructing a composition from start to finish. No need for any prior experience or understanding of the Arabic language is required. For non-Arabic speaking, a comprehensive alphabet guide will be provided as part of the class booklet. If you are a problem-solver, this script is for you!
