The book begins with a short history of the I Ching and how the hexagrams evolved. As Ann steeped herself in the images and the commentaries, she discovered relevance to a much larger context. The insights she found into the underlying principles and processes that Nature uses to create harmony in the universe were very similar to those we use in making a calligraphic work. In organizing all the elements in the design to work together in harmony, we unknowingly echo the laws of the cosmos; so the making of a piece of calligraphy becomes a deeply profound act.
