In this workshop we will break down the skeleton of the Acanthus Leaf to better understand its structure. Then we will take a look at how to present it in a border. Just understanding the many facets of it and how it can be illustrated is a wonderful tool. We will take a look at the very classic elements of it as well as painting it in that classical format. Next, we will draw and paint it for a border and then to finish off our class we will draw the leaf very free form. I will supply some patterns for you to use in class OR you can draw along with me and paint your own leaves. Either way, this will be a drawing class as well as a painting class. We will use gouache as well as watercolors. The Acanthus leaf has been something I have been “dancing” with for years and I have learned so many elements and techniques with it. Hence, I would like to take our time with this workshop and do it well together.
