Reggie Ezell - Blackletter and Variations - June 28 & 29, 2025

Take a journey beginning in a traditional blackletter as used in medieval manuscripts and continue on in the creation of contemporary variations. We will begin by grounding ourselves in a strong, basic form of gothic: Textura. Then we will, variable by variable, morph it through a series of permutations; creating variations, modernizing it, and doing projects that are anything but traditional. Beginners through advanced welcome.

PAPERS

All of the papers need to be 8 ½ x 11 to run through a copier (preferably an ink jet rather than a laser). Most of these papers come in large sheets and will need to be cut down. John Neal Books does sell Arches pre cut to 8 ½ x 11.
