Description

Acrylics are one of the most versatile and durable mediums available today. Using this medium, we will concentrate on adapting painting techniques for use with our calligraphy. We’ll focus on creating textures using acrylic paints, inks, mediums, gels and pastes. Calligraphers will be introduced to techniques that will allow them to create layers using marks and letterforms in traditional and non-traditional ways. This session will give detailed information with the goal of understanding the materials we paint with and why they perform in certain ways on both canvas and heavy papers. Participants should expect a wealth of information on layering and glazing techniques, including an exclusive, detailed documentary of Artist’s Acrylics, written and filmed by Randall, detailing their evolution from the mid-20th century to today.
