This time of year brings beautiful blossoms to trees here in Virginia, and particularly lovely are the Cherry Trees in DC, and the Dogwood Trees, who claim their blossoms as Virginia’s State Flower. In this workshop, we will learn to paint them both. The blush pink of the cherry blossoms are a wonderful contrast to the grey of winter, and we will use a round brush to paint them. And the dogwood gives us an opportunity to work with white, using subtle shadows to create the white blossom painted onto white paper. We will then interpret them another way, using a darker background to shape their petals. These florals will be a wonderful addition to border treatments, small sprays of flowers, or all by themselves.
