Mike Gold - Composition for Calligraphers - Oct 13 - Nov 13, 2024

Good design, says artist Irene Au, is like a refrigerator—when it works no one notices, but when it doesn’t, it stinks. This workshop is designed to help artists of all skill levels who use letters and letterforms better understand composition and the elements and principles of design. You will come away with a better understanding of design essentials and some layout tips of special interest to lettering artists. The workshop will include many handouts, demos, and exercises to build your design skills. The three-session course will also include a review of work a couple weeks following the instruction to give you time to complete work.
