This workshop is aimed at everyone: designers, professionals, students, graphic designers, tattoo artists, letter lovers, just curious people or anyone interested in calligraphy, both as an artistic medium and as a graphic element to complete – 6 Meeting live on ZOOM during 2 month shared with teacher and class with the possibility to interact at the moment. 1 Meeting for each week. • TOPIC: Sticky Fingers – Letter Collage from scratch to finish by Lieve Cornil During these coming weeks, I will talk to you about how to design and how to make lettercollages. Yes, as always, letters come with specific issues and complexities. We need to address them so you are free to come up with your own designs and concepts. We will talk about surface, glue and texture during the first weeks, moving on to pasting and waxing paper. We will put it all together in collage ideas. As you will see, the “collage” world is huge and offers so many possibilities for you to discover and have fun with.
• Lesson 1: BASICS what are collages? how to design lettering collages? surface/cutting/glue demo first try outs homework
• Lesson 2: TEXTURED COLLAGES feedback (if there is work to be discussed of course, but I think there might be) making collages with textured paper: what, why and why not? homework
• Lesson 3: RELIEF COLLAGES feedback (if there is work to be discussed of course, but I think there might be) making collages using different heights: what, why and why not? homework
• Lesson 4: PAPER TREATMENTS: pasting and waxing feedback (if there is work to be discussed of course, but I think there might be) demo on how to make these papers letting them dry homework
• Lesson 5: COMBINING feedback (if there is work to be discussed of course, but I think there might be) Bringing papers from lesson 4 together in collage work Combining waxed and non waxed paper homework
• Lesson 6: BIG FEEDBACK SESSION would like to use this session to answer questions, look at works and see how I can help in any way.
