Flourishing is one of the skills that almost every calligrapher covets! Here we will cover flourishing with pointed pens in detail, both flourishing that is attached to letters (for example: double letters, ascenders/descenders) and stand-alone flourishes (not attached to letters). You'll learn the rules which form the foundation for all forms of flourishing, and also learn when they can be bent. You'll also discover what may have caused your flourishes to flop in the past, and how to dramatically improve them for the future. Lessons will also touch on scrolls, plumes, floral/botanical enhancements, and the intricate designs known as Dutch caps. Great flourishes don't just come through some sort of mysterious, indefinable inspiration! There is a process to developing them, and we'll go through it step by step so that you can learn it for yourself. With this class, there will be many more beautiful flourishes in your future!
