An Apple a Day… Capturing the Texture and Character of Apple Using Damp and Dry Watercolor Techniques with Mary Dillon
'An apple a day…. ‘ get your teeth into capturing the texture and character of apples using damp and dry watercolor techniques. Layering and blending color, shine, reflected light and surface speckling, will be our focus.
Supplies:
Paints:
- WNWC1-4. All are artist quality, transparent colours, Winsor and Newton or the equivalent (eg. Schminke, or Daniel Smith) Pigment umbers are given if you’d like to find the equivalent colour in other brands.
- Winsor and Newton:
- Winsor Lemon PY175 or Transparent Yellow
- Indian Yellow. PY153, PO 62
- Quinacridone red PR 209
- Permanent Rose. PV 19.
- Winsor blue red shade. PB 15.
- Winsor blue green shade. PB 15.
- Winsor and Newton:
Brushes:
- BR28. Good quality watercolour brushes - eg. Artist Quality synthetic Series 7 round or pointed round or the equivalent are more expensive but longer lasting and very good quality.
- 1 large (No. 4. or No. 5, or No. 6)
- 1 medium (No. 2 or No. 3)
- 1 small miniature or spotter (No. 1 or No. 0)
Paper:
- Good quality Hot Pressed high white or extra white watercolour paper. Hahnemeule, Arches, or Saunders Waterford 300 lbs high white or extra white, A3 size sheet.
- P100. A3 (12” x 16“) Sketch pad
- P43. A4 (8.5"x11") Tracing paper
Sundry Materials:
- S1158. Ceramic plate as a mixing palette and some small saucers or dishes for mixing paint.
