Looking at Detail and Structure with Marianne Hazlewood
Learn to observe closely, measure and draw the topography of a specimen using landmarks, work in the structure and then build tone and color.
I would like to demonstrate and work with you on autumnal specimens, nuts, berries and fruits, investigating structure and colour.
Supplies:
- S752, S1668.Drawing board and block to lean on / table easel.
- P25, PA42, PA110. Paper – cartridge paper, tracing paper, HP watercolor paper. Please bring spare paper.
- PL38, PL13, E13. Graphite pencils 3H & 2B, sharpeners, erasers, large soft brush to clean paper.
- WNWC1-4. Watercolor paints (I tend to use all Winsor and Newton professional tubes and I usually use primaries to mix colors. My basic set is: New Gamboge, Windsor Lemon, Permanent Alizarin Crimson, Daniel Smith Quinacridone Magenta, French Ultramarine (Green shade), Cerulean Blue and Indigo.)
- S2005, BR104, BR103, S1695. Pallet, brushes (including lifting brush 'eradicator'), water pot, blotting tissue.
- S270. Ruler, dividers.
- Camera/phone.
- S1046, S1145. Methods to position a specimen - adhesive putty, Scotch Tape, clips, thread...
- S4101. Portable lamp, with daylight setting / bulb, battery operated.
